Dress Code

 

All students must change for class.

The following will be the acceptable attire for physical education classes:

§         Tee shirt or sweatshirt (no spaghetti straps or short cut shirts)

§         Athletic shorts or sweatpants (elastic waist, no zippers or buttons)

§         Athletic sneakers and socks (no slip-on or platform sneakers). Cleats are acceptable when class is outside.

 

v     Please remind your child to bring and use a stick anti-perspirant/deodorant.

§         No glass bottles or sprays.

v     Hats or jewelry may not be worn during physical education classes. 

§         Newly pierced ears must be covered with medical tape.

v     Students may not wear athletic team uniforms to class. 

 

Grading Policy

 

Participation: 80%

Each time a class meets, students will be graded on a scale of 0-10 for their participation during that class period.

Please see below for the detailed grading rubric.

 

v     If a student has a medical excuse for the day and can not participate, it will not count against them.

v     If a student is not dressed appropriately for class, they will not be allowed to participate and will receive a zero for the day.

 

Skill: 10%

Skill progression will be evaluated during the class activities.

 

Written Test: 10%

Written tests may be given each quarter.  Study guides are provided on teacher websites.

 

ANY STUDENT WHO DOES NOT PARTICIPATE IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASS MAY NOT PARTICIPATE IN INTERSCHOLASTIC ATHLETICS THAT DAY.

 


Personal and Social Responsibility Grading Rubric

 

Objectives:   1)   Students demonstrate accountability and responsibility

2)       Students demonstrate effort and self direction as a critical

element to achievement of personal well-being.                                                  

3)      Students learn to respect other’s rights, consider other’s feelings, and care about others which are essential to the achievement of social well-being.

 

 Level:  0-3                                                    Description

·        Student is unprepared for class.

·        Participates only when prompted.

·        Student needs reminders in order to work safely.

·        Student exhibits little or no contribution and support during class processes.

Level: 4-7  

·        Attitude, participation and effort do not meet acceptable standard.

·        Needs reminders in order to work cooperatively.

·        Reluctant to try new activities or challenges.

·        Requires support from teacher when in conflict situation.

Level: 8-9

·        Student participates in physical activities and usually displays effort.

·        Plays fair and follows appropriate safety rules.

·        Positive attitude and high level of effort.

·        Works well and respectfully with others.

 

Level: 10 (Target Level)

·        Positive attitude and high level of effort.

·        Continually encouraging and supportive of others.

·        Outstanding leadership, critical contribution and interpersonal skills.

·        Volunteers and facilitates the learning of others.

·        Organizes and makes plans, motivates others, makes thoughtful decisions, and is a positive role model for others.
