What is VESID?
VESID (Vocational Educational Services for Individuals with
Disabilities)is
an organization that helps students plan for their career,
participate in
paid work experiences, find jobs/training that match abilities,
and works
with colleges and employers to ensure needed accomomodations.

Our district co-ordinator is Michele Dack.
What, exactly, HAPPENS in resource class?
Contrary to popular belief, resource is not a study hall. I do
let students
work on classroom assignments for 42 minutes of the block, and I
help with
material as needed. During that time, I check for understanding
of assigned
work, and try to arrange for afterschool meetings with classroom
teachers if
the need arises. The other half of the block is devoted to
remedial prep for
regents exams, transitional goals, and meeting the needs of
individual IEPs.
Activities include aptitude testing, general word building
skills, and
vocational/college preparation.
