Math
Math homework will be 1 to 2 times a week, unless more is needed for extra practice. We do most of our practice within the school day. All students could benefit from some extra practice with day's of the month and month's of the year, as well as some fact practice.
Reading
Book buddies will come home several times a week--these will start the second or third week of school. These should be read with an adult and they should only take about 10 - 15 minutes. Some of our students are reading chapter books and doing literature circles, their reading may take slightly longer. All book buddy reading should be able to be done independently. Some students are bringing home sight words and fluency phrases in book buddies. These skill activities will help with your childs reading. See your notes in the book buddy bag.
Writing
All students could benefit from some extra practice in letter formation. Do only when the child wants to write. Always notice what they are doing right, before correcting. Have them pick out their best letter and try to make the rest of their letters as good as that one.
