How are students placed in Reading and English AIS classes?

Students are placed in Reading and English AIS classes at the middle-senior 
high school based on a number of factors. These include state test scores,
classroom performance, skill assessments, and teacher referrals.

Is it possible for placement in these classes to change?

It is possible for placement in these classes to change during the school 
year. Members of the English department meet on a regular basis to discuss
students who may be progressing well enough to be removed from Reading or
English AIS as well as students who may benefit from being added.

Who would I talk to regarding the progress of my student?

In order to discuss your child's placement options and progress in 
Reading/English AIS, you are encouraged to call the Reading/AIS provider,
the English teacher, or the department chair at any time.
