The 2010-2011 school year marks the beginning of my tenth year teaching in
the Pulaski School District. I attended SUNY Geneseo for my undergraduate
work and I received my Master's Degree in Literacy Education from SUNY
Oswego.
I grew up in Oswego, NY and I currently reside there. Some of my interests
include reading, walking, kayaking, biking, and going to garage sales! I
also enjoy spending time with my extended family, many of whom also live in
Oswego.
In my classroom, I am continuing to use my own form of the writing workshop
model based on Nancie Atwell's work. Mrs. Trowbridge and I had the
opportunity to visit Nancie Atwell and her school in May of 2007, and the
experience helped me develop new ideas for my classroom.
Students will explore a variety of writing genres this year. I hope that
students will produce many quality writing pieces that have authentic
purposes. Some of the genres they will explore are: poetry, biography,
memoir, mythology, persuasive letters, book reviews, and compare/contrast
essays.
