About The Teacher

A Good teacher Explains...A Superior teacher Demonstrates...
                        A GREAT teacher Inspires!

  Hello All!

Welcome to Ms. Russell's Resource Room! The resource room supports
students who are in need of remediation in the areas of reading, writing and math.

I have been teaching at the Quogue School for the past 9 years. I am so lucky
to be doing something I absolutely love. I am excited to be working with
students in Pre-K through Third Grade and look forward to a successful and
enriching year with all my students!

I hold a Masters degree in Elementary Education; I am also certified
to teach in the field of Special Education and Reading. Currently, I am
completing my certification in Early Childhood Education. I am an avid reader
and love to share great books with my students. I am committed to providing
children with learning experiences that foster their cognitive, social and
emotional development.

Mission For The Class

My goal for the resource room is to provide students with a safe and secure
learning environment where they feel comfortable to discover, explore and
experiment. Students will be immersed in a sea of literature using a variety
of genres. Students will learn to use reading strategies, such as context
clues, letter and sound knowledge, and syntax or word structure with ongoing
support. Teaching reading strategies will enable students the opportunity to
become life long readers. My hope for this year is for students to apply these
strategies independently to become fluent, confident, skilled and
self-motivated readers.
