Dear Parents:

In Math this upcoming week we will continue our study of fractions. We will
review adding and subtracting then begin multiplying and dividing with
fractions. Your child takes daily notes which should be reviewed. There will
be unannounced quizzes.
In Social Studies, students are writing the resolution to an ancient
“Who-dun-nit.” Lady Tashat was about fifteen when she died... For unknown
reasons, her body was twisted and had a number of broken bones... She had an
infection in her knee and hip...but this would not have killed her. She had
broken bones and slashes across the soles of her feet...but this would not
have killed her. Each student-author is developing a plausible plot and
solution to the mystery of Lady Tashat. These will be exciting to read!
In Science we will begin to learn about microscopes. We’ll, hopefully, view
some single celled organisms (if any are to be found in our local waters this
time of year) and create our own slides of onion membranes.
New vocabulary / spelling words will be assigned. We are working with comma
usage in our writing. Students will practice reading / writing / and
listening skill activities in preparation for the NY State ELA tests. Samples
of this work will come home in their “End of the Week” folders.
Parent / Student / Teacher Conferences have been most insightful. Please
encourage your child to practice the behaviors necessary to achieve the goals
he / she created and discussed at our conference.
We have been discussing having an “At-ti-tune-up.” We all need to examine
our attitudes and see where we can be kinder and how we can resolve problems
without being hurtful or hurt. Please continue this discourse with your child.
F.Y.I. The PTA plans to purchase copies of the PTA generated yearbook for
each 6th grader. Thank you, PTA!
	Enjoy your weekend.

						Sincerely,
