St. Elizabeth Catholic Academy believes that it is an integral part of the educational ministry of the Catholic Church. It exists to provide for the education of the whole child within an environment where spiritual growth, academic excellence and an appreciation of multicultural values are fostered. We wish to provide our students with the opportunity to become contributing members of the Church, community and society.

Dear Families,

I feel the school year is off to a good start, by and large the students seem happy to be here and we are certainly happy to have them with us!

This year, we tried a couple of new things. First, we had a “Rock Garden,” family event on Saturday, September 30th. The idea was that all families would participate and paint a rock for our garden. Many people joined us on that day and even though the weather was uncooperative, we made the best of it. In addition to the rock painting, there was a bouncy house for the children, face painting, food, and a DJ to keep the party going! A good time was had by all, thanks to those who could join us on that day. The beautifully painted rocks are now around the evergreen tree in front of the building. We also had an event at Pizza Hut where families could go and enjoy dinner with percentage of the proceeds for the day going to SECA. Again, this was a very enjoyable event and parents had a night where someone else was cooking dinner!

We will have a Family Mass on Saturday, October 14th hosted by Grade 1, but we would love it if students and families in all grades would attend. Our school choir will sing at the Mass, under the direction of Mrs. Reicino; if you haven’t had the opportunity to hear them sing, here’s your chance! There will be refreshments after Mass in the Lower Church.

We are looking forward to our Second Annual Trunk or Treat event on Saturday, October 28th. I believe all those who attended last year’s event would agree that the event was a great way for the school community to celebrate Halloween. This year, we are going to do things a little differently. We got a permit from the Police Department to close the street down so the decorated cars will park outside instead of in the school yard. In the yard, there will be food for sale, a photo booth, a DJ and a bouncy house. Mrs. Merckling is making all the arrangements, I know that she sent a flyer home already and I’m sure she would welcome help.

Please remember that school for grades K-8 begins at 8 a.m. please make sure your children are on time for school. We have a large majority of students on-time, but I would like to see 100% of our school population here by 8. Remember parents, it’s never too early to develop good habits in your children.

Please remember, my door is always open to you! Have a great October!
