The Neurology Service encompasses the in-patient
service, a consult service and neurology clinics.
Dr. Freddo runs the in-patient service. Neurology patients should be
admitted (or transferred) to 3 South.
Dr. Segan runs the consult service, which consults on adult patients
on all hospital services.
To call a routine consult call ext. 6205. For an emergency daytime
consult page the neurology attending on the consult service. Routine
consults are seen within 24 hours; those called in the morning are seen the
same day, those called in later in the afternoon and evenings are seen the
next morning. Messages for routine consults can be left at ext. 6205
by voice mail 24 hours a day.
For emergency consults during the day, at night and over weekends page the
neurology attending on call. Dr. Segan is the attending receiving calls at
night and over weekends.
Patients are seen in the Neurology Clinics only after an approved
referral.
Out-patient referrals are sent via the clinic. In-patients may be referred
to the Neurology Clinic only if advised by a neurology attending. This is so
for both neurology and other in-patients. DO NOT SEND A PATIENT TO THE
NEUROLOGY CLINIC WITHOUT IT BEING OK’d BY DRs. FREDDO OR SEGAN. You should
also specify Monday AM for Dr. Segan or Friday PM for Dr. Freddo, if advised
to do so.
