SBH Data Definitions Data: is
uninteruupted observations or facts Information: is data transformed through analysis and
interpretation into a form useful for decsion-making (data means nothing unless you
decide what to do with it.) We need data to document that we are in compliance
with regulations. We need to "drill down" into the dat to see
what it is telling us; then we need to decide what to do with the data. We gather data from Sparcs/Hanys on infection rates CHF rate NYPORTS sentinal events Rank the data in bar graph in order of frequency, a
Pareto Chart, to help decide which issues out of many you should focus on, as part of
Performance Improvement. Know following definitions: Validity: The
capability of the indicator or tool to measure what it is supposed to measure. Reliability:
The ability of the indicator or
tool to easure in a reproducible way what it is supposed to measure. Cannot have
validity without reliability. Mean = the average Mode = the score that happens most often Median = 50%
above and 50% below Common cause - can be predicted Special cause - unstable, can not be predicte |
