Thursday evening 20 members of the HS Jazz Band and 7 members of the Chorus entertained the residence of Sunrise Assisted Living with classic American Jazz and Holiday classics. Our students represented our community and their families in a most outstanding way. I would like to acknowledge the following students:

Both the High School and the Middle School Concert Bands & Chorus participated in the New Jersey and New England festivals.
We had outstanding performances and great memories!

On a personal note, I would like to thank the PTA for the honor bestowed on the Music Department at last week's Spring Social. It is a honor I will cherish and never forget!


The Tuckahoe High School was given the honor of a
plaque and an American Flag from the
149th Transportation Company
Kandahar, Afgahnastan.
Students and faculty participated in a comfort item drive last year in support of Captain Bruno (Mr. Tom Ernest's daughter) and the 149th.
Student letters and cards of encouragement and thanks, along with comfort food, snacks, sporting equiptment , DVD's, books, were mailed throughout the past year in support of their efforts in securing our freedom.
On December 25th, 2009 the flag we were presented, was flown in the face of the enemy in honor of Tuckahoe Middle/High School.
The Plaque and Flag will be cherished for years to come
as they will be proudly displayed in the band room.

"TOWER OF POWER"

Nineteen members of the HS Jazz Band enjoyed the concert experience on March 25, 2010. The Tower of Power (TOP)has been performing live for 42 years their special brand of Funk, and Rythm & Blues. Students chowed down with unlimitted appetizers of wings, nachos, and seafood.  The TOP had  special guest artist, Lenny Picket (tenor Sax) of Saturday Night Live (SNL) fame perform as he was an original member back in 1968. His solo was amazing! We look forward to more concerts and musical experiences.

Capt. Jennifer Bruno visits Tuckahoe

Capt. Bruno came to Tuckahoe to relate a special personal thank you for all the cards, and comfort items sent to her and her Company the 149th in Afgahnistan over the past year while they were on duty. She expressed that everyone couldn't wait to see what was in the boxes as they were delivered. They enjoyed every card, and posted the special ones around the camp. The pictures and Band T-Shirt were proudly hung up for everyone to see. The most important thing for everyone there was that sombody here cared enough to think of them.
