Home Page: Educational and Parenting Resources <DIV align=center><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 24pt"><SPAN style="COLOR: #0000ff">Welcome to Educational and Parenting Resources: PBIS Information and More<BR><BR></SPAN></SPAN> Announcements are the section where news and upcoming events will be listed.<BR><BR> <DIV align=left>November 2011/February 2012<BR>We continue to implement PBIS practices at Howell Road, which is an evidence-based approach that supports positive behaviors, effective responses to behavior, social skills development, enhanced climate in school and between home and school.<BR><BR>Dr. Weisz presented at the NY Association of School Psychologists and the National Association of School Psychologists on the topic of Using PBIS to help schools become more culturally and linguistically diverse. Dr. Weisz has been working with the PBIS team to help improve overall school climate, improve behavior and enhance teacher practices that promote positive social development in children. In addition, Dr. Weisz has been involved in professional activities related to advancing the goals of school psychology, to help support children, families and schools. <BR><BR>In October, Dr. Weisz presented at the annual NY Association for School Psychologist's conference about research and suggestions for using Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports to help schools be more response to culturally and linguistically diverse students. He reviewed the importance of school communities to focus on diversity and to improve interactions between home and school. He talked about the use of PBIS and other best practices at Howell Road and was very well received. He will also present on the same topic this spring at the National Association of School Psychologists.<BR><BR>Dr. Weisz is updating his webpage which can be found on the District website, under Howell Road School, Staff List and then his name. <BR><BR>This website describes the use of PBIS at Howell Road School to improve school climate, teach behavior and support children at various levels of needs. The program works with reinforcement from staff, parents and fellow students. <BR><BR>He also has parent and teacher resources on other relevant subjects on this site, as well. <BR></DIV></DIV></DIV> <DIV><BR><STRONG>November 3, 2010<BR></STRONG>This website will now include additional resources, which may be useful to staff and parents in the District. In addition to PBIS resources, look for various evidence-based, educational and parenting resources related to helping children.<BR><BR><STRONG>September 17, 2010<BR></STRONG>We are kicking off our school-wide positive behavior and supports program with an assembly. We will teach the importance of everyone knowing our expectations and following them in all settings of the school.
