are trick words which means they can not be sounded out. The faster your child
is able to read these words the more fluent their reading becomes.

We have
started our units in Spelling. Your child will have Spelling homework each
night in their green spelling journal. The assignment is the same every night.
The only thing that will change is the words that are used. On Monday - Write
each word 3x each, Tuesday Choose 3 words and put them in sentences. (*If you
are up for a challenge do 5), Wednesday- Choose 3 more words and put them into
sentences (* Again, if you are up for a challenge then do 5), Thursday: ABC
order ( *Choose 5 words and put them in ABC order) and study for the test.
* We will
have Spelling tests on Fridays
* A great
way to practice the trick words is to put each word on an index card and use
them like flashcards.
We have
been working with CVC words and talking about word families. Your child should
be able to tap to read words like (cat, mop, fin, hug) etc.
