Happy New Year to All:
Hope your holidays were wonderful and look forward to working with you in
2010. Just a few comments before Thursday night's meeting:
1. Could the President's of the units please e-mail me with the dates of
your next two meetings. I would like to attend unit meetings to advocate for
Council and to see if we can get some volunteers to serve on Council for next
year.
2. Science Fair - at our last meeting we discussed the problems we had last
year with the Science Fair. Gina and I had a meeting scheduled to discuss
the problems with Mrs. Belfield but, unfortunately, I had to cancel due to
work. I am making arrangements to have it rescheduled. HOWEVER, in the
meanwhile may I respectfully request that the units DONATE TO THE SCIENCE
FAIR. PTA has been a sponsor of the Science Fair long before I even became
involved with PTA (OK before the Dark Ages -ha ha). In all seriousness
though, please send in your contributions (donate more if your units can
afford it since I am sure that due to the economy corporate sponsorship will
be down) since I know we can work things out to rectify any problems that
occurred last year. I know the district will make certain that the problem
of lack of medals, etc. will be rectified and Gina and I will discuss the
other problems. Again, we can discuss it Thursday night but for those who
did not attend in December or may not be able to attend Thursday, please
bring this topic up at your next unit meeting and be sure to donate.
Also, our ELA Coordinator, Dana Brown, has been kind enough to volunteer to
attend a PTA Council meeting to discuss any questions any of you have with
any aspect of our ELA Program. I thanked Ms. Brown for volunteering to attend
and told her that I would ask PTA Council members if they would like her to
attend and if so, what you would like to know about our ELA Program. So
another discussion item for Thursday night.
Best regards,
Debbie
