MAKE A FOOD CHAIN/WEB
![]() A food chain is a way to show food relationships between plants and animals
or how energy passes from producers to consumers.
![]() Every student scientists was either the sun, a plant, an animal, bacteria or a nutrient.

Dissects an Owl Pellet
![]() To get the concept of a food chain, our student scientists
will dissect and investigate an owl pellet.
![]() They worked in pairs to separate the bones from the fur.
They found a lot of bones and some skulls.
As they found bones they cleaned them off and put them in a bag.
![]() Can you figure out what this owl ate?
![]() Once all the bones are separated they will glue them
on a piece of paper and figure out what their owl ate. ![]() Mr. Thompson took the time to name a few of the bones!

4 - Wei & 4 - Pas/Sab Dissect Owl Pellets ![]() Mrs. Weiner's student scientists also worked in pairs to dissect their owl pellets. They worked very hard to find as many bones as the could. ![]() Some seperated the fur while their partner cleaned the bones. ![]() It is very interesting to see how many bones are in one pellet. ![]() It will take a couple of lab days to finish the job! Some big bones have have been found. ![]() Mr. Pastore/ Mrs. Class starting gluing their bones on black paper.
![]() Now they can see the skeleton of the owl's prey!!
