Helping Your Child Become a Reader
* Read Aloud.
*Always talk about what you read, this helps develop oral language skills.
* Encourage your child to read to you and to others. Sharing stories is a wonderful way to build communication and thinking skills.
* Build an at home library together, choosing books from different genres. Be sure to include fiction and non-fiction books.
*Provide opportunities for your child to see you reading a variety of printed materials.
* Always encourage the opportunity to write. Making grocery lists, sending thank you notes and keeping a journal promote a joy for writing and reinforce language skills.
*Promote and model a love for reading.
