Welcome to the NEW and exciting, super cool band web page. In time, you
will find all sorts of useful information on this site. For now however,
you will find little nuggets of band wisdom, and some stuff that may help
you out with joining band, playing your instrument, and scheduling your
life. Enjoy!
AMAZING TIP:
It gets hot on stage, particularly during band concerts, so a bottle of
cold water for the stage is also a good thing. I usually stick a bottle of
Poland Spring in the freezer (take a small sip first so it doesn't explode
in there) and bring the frozen bottle with me to the show. As it de-thaws,
you will have an icy cold beverage for your drinking delight.
Aha! Another nugget for your nugget pleasure...
Keep a pencil in your case, occasionally you'll need one - to write down the
secret word for example, which is in a different location this week.
Oh, before I forget, the reason we can't have parents in for the winter
recital is two-fold. The first reason is the performance is in the Gym, and
kids and parents don't fit in there together. If we leave the kids out, the
younger kids don't get a chance to see the older kids perform and see what
it's all about. The third graders really enjoy the show as they are coming
from a school where instrumental music wasn't offered.
The other reason we don't have parents for that one is we are not quite ready
to put on a show after the 10 lessons or so that we have had that is at the
level of public presentation. We're good, but we could be better. I hope
those explanations ease the pain. You will see us in June, and we will
rock.
Toodles,
Mr. Whalen
