Mrs. Goldberg has been teaching at Mildred E. Strang Middle School for a long
time..... She has taught 7th and 8th grade science, as well as the
district's 6th,7th,and 8th grade BRIDGE (G/T)programs. Presently, she is
collaborating with the 7th grade English teachers to provide differentiated
instruction in the 7th grade English classes.
Mrs. Goldberg is actively involved in Destination Imagination. One of the most
coveted MESMS DI experience is riding the bus to Tennessee with Mrs. Goldberg.
She is a member of the NYDI Board of Directors, and has been the site
coordinator for the Eastern Regional tournament.
Academic Triathlon is another extracurricular activity of Mrs. Goldberg's.
She serves as the NYS Coordinator for Academic Triathlon, and enjoys hosting
and traveling to local meets.
During the summers Mrs. Goldberg works at the Croton Children's Theater. In
2009 she directed, "Blue Suede Paws."
Mrs. Goldberg is an adjunct professor at the College of New Rochelle where
she teaches in their Creative Teaching Program.
6th grade students have the opportunity to work with several teachers to
complete enrichment clusters in differnt subject areas.
The mission for the 7th grade ELA Enrichment Class is to provide
opportunities for students who have demonstrated interest and aptitude in
English/Language Arts to pursue these activities at a challenging level. Many
of the activities will complement activities in the regular English class,
and others will be unique to this class. In 2007-8 year Mrs. Goldberg
received a Foundation Grant enabling her class to design and produce a
communicationmural that is proudly part of the hallscape near her classroom.
An article about this project is scheduled to appear in Teaching for High
Potential during the 2009-10 school year.
8th graders have the opportunity to explore an interdisciplinary unit of
mutual interest. In 2009, on group of students explored the U.S. legal
system, culminating in a mock trial. another group studied the brain and
hosted MESMS's first Brain symposium.
