June 17, 2011. You must take it and pass it to receive credit for
Spanish I and to go on to Spanish II!
Please be present at school ON TIME that day and bring a blue
or black pen.

2. Words/phrases to know:
Me gusta = I like
Ex: Me gusta pasar el rato con mis amigos.
Le gusta = He likes
Ex: A mi padre le gusta pescar.
Soy = I am
Ex: Soy alto/-a y moreno/-a.
No soy = I am not
Ex: No soy bajo/-a o rubio/-a.
Tengo = I have
Ex: Tengo (catorce) años.
Tiene = He/she has
Ex: Mi amigo tiene el pelo moreno y los ojos verdes
3. Try to use these words and phrases from steps 1 and 2 to write
a short note (35 words or more).
TASK: Write to your Spanish pen pal about yourself AND about one
other friend or family member. Please include: facts about you
and the friend/family member, activities you do together, things
you like and dislike.
Example:
Querido (Dear) Ramón,
¡Hola! ¿Cómo estás? Me llamo Luisa. Soy de Estados Unidos y
tengo catorce años. Me gusta mucho nadar y leer, pero no me gusta
nada pescar. Soy baja y morena como (like) mi madre. Ella es baja
y morena también. A ella no le gusta leer. Prefiere trabajar en
el jardín durante el verano. ¿Cómo es tu madre? Y, ¿cómo eres tú?

TASK: You have to cancel plans with a friend because you are not
feeling well. Please write your friend a note and include: the
event you have to cancel, how you are feeling, etc.

ciencias sociales porque estoy enfermo. Voy a casa. Me duele la
cabeza y me duele el estómago. También tengo fiebre. Lo siento
