SpellingThere will be No Spelling this week due to the short week.
The students will take a pre-test every Monday and a post-test every Friday. The students will have nightly homework to assist them with mastering these words. All spelling homework should be completed in their spelling notebooks and returned the next day. For the first unit the spelling homework will be consistent each week in order to help the students get use to doing homework nightly. During our second unit the students will have more academic choice for their spelling homework through the use of a weekly choice board. The students will be expected to write in cursive throughout the year. In order to assist them with this they will have a cursive writing book they can use to help them practice their letter formation. At this point the students should be completing their spelling in cursive as much as they can. They still have the option to write their words in cursive and print to show they know how to spell the word even though they may not be able to write it in cursive however, this is up to your child whether they do that as I am no longer making them write both ways on the spelling pre-test or post test.
