9R Research Projects

**NEW**Student sign up list is at the bottom of the page

Students will work on research projects at varying times of the year. Each
student will do some research on an aspect related to the texts we study in
class. Therefore, student A may have a research project in the first
quarter, while student B doesn't have her research project until third
quarter. Students will be able to choose the book, the type of research,
and thus the time the project will be due.

There will be four students working on each text, but students will be
working independently and will each turn in their own assignments. Students
may choose to research: the author, the text, other works by the author and
literary terms used in the piece, or the period/culture presented in the
piece as well as the period/culture during which the text was written.

Each student must turn in:

Outline: use standard outline format - 30 pts
Works Cited: using correct MLA format, three sources (2 net, 1 other)- 90 pts
Essay: Five paragraph format, includes three in-text citations - 130 pts
Presentation: 3-5 minutes, includes visual aide (eye contact, preparation,
and voice all count!) - 50 pts.
Total: 300 points

The appropriate format for each of the above requirements will be taught in
class. You will also be able to find directions and/or samples on this web
page. All work should be typed. DO NOT CUT AND PASTE!
