The Math League ... building student interest and confidence in mathematics
through solving worthwhile problems. Over one million students participate
in Math League contests each year. Contest questions are designed to cover a
range of mathematical knowledge for each grade level. Questions on the
contests never require any mathematics beyond the grade level tested. They're
fun too!
In Oceanside's PROJECT EXTRA program, students will be given one practice
Math League contest in order to familiarize themselves with the format. The
actual contest will take place after February and all students receive
certificates for their participation. These certificates will be placed in
the students' PROJECT EXTRA portfolios. The top three sixth grade students
in the Math League contest district-wide will also receive trophies. For
additional at-home math enrichment, copies of previous contests will be made
available to the students if they wish further practice. Books published by
the Math League organization, are also available by checking The Math League
