Can my child bring a drink to school?

Children are encouraged to bring water bottles to school. The
bottle should be labeled and filled with water. Juices and other
sweet drinks become sticky messes to clean up when they spill,
therefore, please only send in water.

When is my child allowed to use the bathroom?

The children do not need to ask permission to use the bathroom,
which is located in our classroom. We do teach bathroom
manners. We ask that parents also review with their child proper
bathroom manners to be carried out in our classroom bathroom.

Where do we park to bring or pick up our child?

You can park on any of the surrounding streets. Please be sure
to observe the street signs. We ask that you do not go into the
parking lot, as it is reserved for faculty and staff, both before
and after school. In addition, more vehicles in the lot can pose
a safety hazard.

What do I do if our family is going on vacation during school time?

Please do your best to schedule vacations outside of the
scheduled school time. However, if you must plan a trip during
this time, please send me a note informing me of the dates your
child will be absent. If given enough time, I will provide your
child with some of the work s/he might miss, ahead of time.
However, most of the work will be saved and given to
your child after his/her return. Your child will be given ample
time to make up the work.

Can my child bring in birthday treats to celebrate his/her birthday?

Our district has adopted a Wellness Policy where food is no
longer used for celebrations of any kind. We do, however, have a
special way of celebrating your child's birthday. The month
before your child's birthday you will be sent a notice letting
you know the date your child's celebration will take
place. On that day you may send in the following: a birthday
balloon for us to tie to the back of your child's chair, his/her
favorite storybook to be read to the class, his/her favorite
stuffed animal, and, if you would like, party bags for the class,
which should contain only non-edible items. In addition, s/he
will receive a birthday crown and badge, we will sing Happy
Birthday, and his/her classmates will make a special birthday
cake book for your child!

What do I do if my child's dismissal routine changes?

Anytime your child's dismissal routine changes, you must send a
note. If your child is normally a busser, but will go home as a
walker, your child will be put on the bus, unless a note or a
phone call to the office is received. In the same respect, if
your child will be going home with a person other than
the usual person that I dismiss them to, please send a note.
Also, always discuss with your child the way s/he will be going
home each day.

This answer is the same as above, however, if it is a Thursday
