Accelerated Reader is a program that assists the students with reading comprehension.  They will read books in class or at home, and when the students have completed the book, he/she will be tested in class on that book using the computer test designed by the Accelerated Reader Program.  The purpose of the AR program is to encourage good readers to read for pleasure while gaining in reading comprehension skills.

There will be rewards for those that earn AR points and maintain an 85 percent average correct on their tests.  If a student reaches 10 pints, they can bring a stuffed animal in to keep on their desk.  If they get 20 points, they can choose where they sit for the day.  30 points will earn them the privilege of being teacher for the day and assisting me in my daily jobs.  If they reach 40 points, they may sit in the rocking chair for the day.  If they reach 50 points or over they get to go to the mall and eat lunch with Mrs. Foguth.
