Can Mrs. Griffith use my help as a volunteer?

Yes, I encourage parents to become involved in their child's education. You
were their first "teacher". During our class orientation I will have you
fill out a parent volunteer form so that I can see when and if you are
available. I understand that not everyone will be able ot offer time in the
classroom, however you can work at home, atend special events and send in
items for special activities throughtout the school year. Our goal is to
have volunteers come in on a regular bais and work with centers, projects or
small groups. We will be having throughout the school year a varitey of
special activities and celebrations, I encourage you to attend these
functions when possible and to support them by sending in needed supplies or
treats. Your support of school activities makes your child feel important
and lets them know that you value school and learning.

Why is school attendance in Kindergarten important?

Regular and prompt attendance at school is crucial to your child's success.
Most of Kindergarten learning activities are group oriented and involve
interaction with classmates, thus making it hard to make up this work at
home. Please view school as priority, and see to it that your child attends
everyday except in cases of illness or emergency.

I need to change my child's transportation for the day, what do I do?

If you plan to pick up your child who normally rides that bus, you must send
in a written note signed by a parent or guardian. Since children often
become confused and relay information incorrectly, your child will be sent
home by thier usual method of transportation if no note is received.

What are Book Club Orders?

Your child will be bringing home a form to order books from Scholastic once
a month. This is wonderful way to purchase quality books and software for
your child at home at low prices. If you wish to order, simply fill out the
form and send the correct amount of money or a check made out to Scholastic
Clubs in an envelope. As an added bonus, for every dollar that is spent on
books, our class earns bonus points, which are used to purchase books and
software for classroom use. This is a win-win situation because you get
quality books and software at low prices and you are helping to provide
quaailty literature and software for the classroom. Of course, you are never
under any obligation to order any books.

My child's birthday is coming up, can I send in a treat?

Of course you can. Birthdays are special occasions for young children.
Please send in a note a day or two ahead so that I can give you the number
of children in the class. If your
child has a summer birthday, you may like to celebration their 1/2 birthday
during the school year. It is best if the treatis a non-food item.
