What is the earliest my child can arrive at school?

Mrs. Long is often not in the classroom until 8:30. Although she arrives
usually by 8:00, she is may be out of the classroom preparing the day's
lessons, in the office, or in a meeting. Since she feels that it is
important that the children be supervised, they should not arrive until
8:30

What day are the spelling tests?

Spelling tests are scheduled on Friday mornings, however, if we have 2 or
more bad weather days in a week, the test will probably take place on
Monday, or another spelling activity might be assigned in liu of the test.
If Friday is a scheduled day off, the test will be given on Thursday.

Can you explain the STUDENT PLANNER?

The student planner is your child's second grade "Bible".It must be in
school EVERY day and it MUST be taken home, checked, and initialed by a
parent or guardian every night. It will give you SOOOOOO much information
about your child's study and work habits. The week's spelling list will be
written in it on Monday or Tuesday. Completed assignments will be checked
off and homework will be circled. Mrs. Long usually checks the books every
day and some times writes communications to the parents on the pages. Your
answers can be written there also. For the first two weeks of school, the
children will be reminded to write in, take home, bring back, and have
their planners initialed. After that, the consequence for not following
through is a lost recess. PLEASE REMEMBER TO INITIAL!!!!!!!!!

Mrs. Long is available by phone at home anytime after 8:30. She does not
mind home phone calls! She will also schedule conferences with you before
school, at lunchtime, after school, or in the evening at mutually
acceptable times and places.

Can I visit my child's classroom?

Please visit any time after October 1. By this time the class will be in a
routine and visitors will not be a distraction. If you choose to visit,
call the school a few days before you come to schedule your visit and ALWAYS stop in the
office for a visitor's pass before proceeding to our classroom.
