Hi Everybody!
Our next second grade Mass will be December 2nd at Holy Cross. It is the first Wednesday in Advent.
We'll be doing some special "stuff" for that Mass which will include a group of second graders singing,
liturgical dance, and readings. Parts which have to be read will be sent home on the Tuesday BEFORE
Thanksgiving since we'll only have two days to practice when the children come back after
Thanksgiving. We hope you're able to attend.
During conferences you may have noticed that our chairs and desks are leaving lots of gray smudges
on the floor. In several of the teachers' catalogs, I've noticed that tennis balls are sold to put on the
bottom of chair and desk legs. Of course, in the catalogs they're outrageously expensive. If any of you
have used tennis balls that have "lost their bounce", send them to school with your child and we'll add
them to our collection. As soon as we accumulate enough, we'll begin putting them on the chairs and
desks. THANKS!
I still have 2 sweatshirts that remain unclaimed. If your child is missing a blue DCS sweatshirt, size
10-12 or 14-16, one of them might be yours! Please write your child's name on all sweatshirts and
sweaters.
With colder weather arriving, I need to tell you that the children will be going outside unless it is
decided that the temperature or the chill factor is too low, or it is too wet. The first REAL accumulated
snow we have will be a time for celebration! Please send boots and snow pants (or an extra pair of warm
pants to act as snow pants) as well as the normal winter coats, hats, scarves, and gloves or mittens.
We'll have an extended recess and build a snowman and make snow angels right outside our classroom
window. Come and play in the snow with us!
