When does my child need an instrument?

We will start playing the second week of school.  Students may 
play Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet or Trombone.

Does the school provide my child's instrument and book?

No, your child needs to rent or purchase an instrument book.

Is this a graded class?

Yes.  Students receive a grade for band class based upon 
participation, lesson and concert attendance, and progress.  
Students do no receive a grade based upon talent.

Does the class meet after school like the strings class?

No.  Band meets during the school day. Your child should receive 
a schedule at school.

What book does my child need?

5th graders need the book Essential Elements 2000, Book I.  6th 
graders need the Essential Elements 2000 Book II for their 
instrument.  Supplies are listed on the supply page.
