Homework Expectations
Students are expected to read 15 minutes every evening during the first quarter of the school year. The
time increases 5 minutes nightly with each grading period. Students should also keep track of their
reading by filling out the literature log.
Math practice sheets are sent home Monday through Thursday. These sheets are a review of concepts
we have practiced in the classroom. Students should be able to complete these activities
independently. If your child has difficulty completing the assignment, please return the homework
along with a brief message explaining the problem. I will be sure to spend time helping your child to
understand the concept.
Word study practice sheets are sent home on Monday evenings. These sheets review a concept we have
practiced in class. These activities are connected to the word list your child brought home the previous
Wednesday. Students are expected to review these word lists throughout the week as well.
Students are expected to practice math facts nightly. During the first semester, basic addition and
subtraction facts should be reviewed. Multiplication and division facts should be practiced during the
second semester.
