A Bit About Your Teacher

I wanted to take a moment to let you know a little bit about myself. I grew up in Colorado, graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in Elementary Education, and lived in the Centennial State until moving to Ohio in 2004. In Colorado I taught 6th and 7th grade for 8 years and taught elementary gifted and talented for 2 years. I started in Olentangy teaching 5th grade at Glen Oak Elementary. I then moved to 2nd grade which is where I happily stayed for the last five years. I am very excited to be back with 5th graders this year!!!!
In addition to holding a PreK-3rd grade license and a 4th-5th grade generalist endorsement, I just completed my Gifted and Talented endorsement through University of Cincinatti this summer.  I have a passion for learning and regularly blog with teachers all over both the country and world.
I have a wonderful husband and four beautiful daughters (Keilly is 19, Mandy is 18, Katy is 15, and Ally is 12). I also have two very spoiled and loving dogs (Molly is a black lab and Sammy is a cairn terrier). My three youngest girls all attend Olentangy schools (Berkshire Middle and Olentangy High). My oldest daughter graduated from Olentangy in 2010 and is a sophomore at Bowling Green.  We chose to live in this district for the same reason that I'm sure your parents did....we wanted the very best education possible for our children. I take that reponsibility as a teacher very seriously and make sure that every child in my classroom is challenged to meet his/her utmost potential in a caring and nurturing environment. I look forward to getting to know your family this year!
