Weekly Homework

READING AND MATH

Your child will receive a new Math and Reading chart every month. Please make sure your child does the required amount of both oral and silent reading. They should be reading orally and silently each, three times a week. Oral reading may consist of reading a few paragraphs or a page aloud to a parent. Silent reading needs to be a minimum of ten minutes each time. As your child finishes reading, you need to indicate silent reading with a SR or oral reading with an OR and tell how

much time was spent doing it on the correct date of the calendar. Then you need to initial it.

To meet monthly requirements in Math your child needs to work on math facts three times a week for at least ten minutes at a time. You need to put only your initials on the correct date of the calendar when your child completes

these drills.

Please have your child return the charts each Friday. We will be keeping track of his or her work. The more your child practices, the better he or she will become in these areas.

LANGUAGE

Each week your child will have be completeing four lessons in the Simple Solutions book.   Please review these lessons.  On the fifth day there will be a quiz over these lessons.  Your child will also have a grammar book teaching these skills.  Please check the homework notebook and review these skills with your child.

SPELLING

Every week your child will have a list of words. A quick review may be necessary for some lists, others may take more time. A written test is given on Friday. Your child will receive a contract in which he/she will be responsible to choose an activity to complete to help him/her study the words for the week. The contract work is to be turned in on Friday or the day of the spelling test.
