As you prepare for the beginning of the school year, please make sure that the ruler that you bring and use all year has different sized measuring lines.  The line for the 1/2 inch mark should be longer than the 1/4 inch mark and so on.  Some rulers have measurement lines that are all the same size, making it more difficult to understand the differences. 

MECHANICAL PENCILS ARE ALLOWED, BUT NO REFILL LEAD IS TO BE BROUGHT TO SCHOOL.  YOU WILL BE EXPECTED TO FILL THIS TYPE OF PENCIL LEAD AT HOME.  THE REFILL LEAD OFTEN ENDS UP ON THE FLOOR, UNDER A CHAIR AND MARKS THE FLOOR.  PLEASE DO NOT BRING THE LEAD PIECES TO SCHOOL!   IT MUST ALREADY BE IN THE PENCIL!
