College Tech Prep Info

College Tech Prep Options for NU students

College Tech Prep is a career-technical program that enables a student to 
continue in more depth at a two year college. North Union's programs 
articulate into Marion Technical College. The college tech prep programs 
available to North Union students include:

1. College Tech Prep Accounting & Finance - taught at North Union High 
School. Level One is two periods long (two credits; junior year) and Level 
Two is two periods long (two credits; senior year). Students are encouraged 
to begin this program during their junior year of high school, although 
seniors may also take level one if space is available. This class is taught 
by Mrs. Teresa Henn. 

2. Health Technologies - taught at Marion Harding High School. Levels One 
and Two are half-day programs. Level Two students attend Harding in the 
morning and are back at North Union for academics by 5th period. 
Transportation is available for the level two program. Level One students 
leave NU after third period for Harding's PM program. They also take an 
Anatomy and Physiology class at Harding. Currently, there is no 
transportation available for the Level 1 program. The teacher for this 
program is Mrs.Laurie Wise.  

3. Information Technology Academy - taught at Tri-Rivers Career Center. 
Levels One and Two are half-day programs. Students attend Tri-Rivers in the 
morning and are back at North Union by 5th period for academics. 
Transportation is available for this program.  Students are encouraged to 
begin this program during their junior year; however seniors will be 
accepted into Level One if space is available. 

4. Engineering Technologies - taught at North Union and Marion Technical 
College. Level One is one period long (one credit) at North Union. Juniors 
or seniors may enroll in level one. The teacher for Level One is Mr. Kurt 
Grunert. Level Two is taught at Marion Technical College during the senior 
year. This is a half-day program. Students are back at North Union by 5th 
period for academics. The teacher of this program is Mr. Rich Ramey. 
Transportation is available for this program.

5. Exercise Science (Athletic Training) This is a half day program at Marion 
Harding High School. Students return to North Union by 5yh period for 
academics. This class is taught by Mr. Bill Coburn. Level Two Students 
attend the morning and Level One attend in the afternoon. Level One students 
also take an Anatomy/Physiology Class.

Please note that for a student to meet Tech Prep curriculum requirements, 
he/she must obtain at least three credits in one of the occupational areas 
above. Any of the above classes will contribute to this requirement.
