Dear Parents,

It is so hard to believe that the end of the school year has arrived!  I want to thank you giving me the privilege of being your child's first grade teacher.  I know that you took a big chance when you agreed to allow your child to be a part of the third first grade class.  I remember when my son (now 24) was about to enter the first grade.  He was so nervous and said, "Mom, I don't know how to read!  I'm so scared!"  I told him that his teacher would make sure that he learned.  I hope that I have done this.  Looking at the results of the "end of the year" reading assessments, I am very proud of the progress that each student has made.  I ask that you continue to have your child read each day.  As a mother (of a 24 year old) I know that during the summer vacation, children forget.  Enroll them in the summer reading program at the Public Library and MAKE THEM READ!!   Also, please drill them with addition and subtraction flashcards. Both the fundamentals of reading and math CANNOT BE FORGOTTEN.  They will need these basic skills throughout second, third, fourth, etc. grade.  The time you take now will be well spent.

But above all, I hope that your child grew closer to Jesus and learned to love their Catholic Faith.  I encourage you to enroll them in Bible School this summer.  And most important, MAKE SURE THAT THEY ATTEND MASS EACH SUNDAY (OR SATURDAY EVENING).  When you love someone, you want to be with them.  Show your child how much you love your faith, and want to be with Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament.

This morning, we will be enjoying "Field Day" at Whitney Field.  During the afternoon we will do a few religion, reading, math, and science activities.  Tomorrow we will pack up and say good-bye.  Please make sure that your child brings their bookbag.  If you are able to donate some "baby wipes" that we could use to clean out desks (and around the room), it would be greatly appreciated.

Once again, thank you for the awesome gift of being your child's first grade teacher.  They have blessed me in so many ways.  I can only hope that I will be seeing your children in a couple of years as their third grade teacher!

Have a great summer vacation!  You can always visit me at "Creative Teaching" in Sandusky (located next to Lowe's).  God bless you and your precious children always.  May the next couple of months be relaxing and safe.  See you in August!!

Love,
Mrs. Bogner

P.S.  You are forever in my prayers.  Please keep me in yours.
