Top Ten List

Dear Families...

Welcome to Mrs. Meyer's Kindergarten Website.

I am including Mrs. Meyer's "Top 10" list of suggestions to ensure your child
has a great start for the school year.

                            MRS. MEYER'S TOP TEN LIST

10.) Please make sure your child comes to school well rested. Studies have
shown 8:00p.m. is an ideal bedtime for 5 and 6 year olds.

9.) Each child should eat breakfast before coming to school. Our snack time
occurs sometime between 10:00 - 10:30 and without breakfast, "the hungries"
may take over. Please be sure your child has a healthy snack in his backpack
daily. (except for "cooking experience" or special snack days, these days are
indicated on your calendar) One snack is sufficient,(no lunch boxes are
needed), please be sure your child is able to open his/her snack. Sometimes
those wrappers are hard for little fingers! You may find it helpful to open
it at home and transfer it to a "baggie" for your child.

8.) Make sure backpacks and folders are checked and emptied daily. Any
returning mail should be placed in your child's folder.

7.) Check and post your monthly kindergarten calendar. This is a helpful
reminder of what is going on in class for each day. (ex: special events,
superkids, birthdays, special snacks & cooking experience days).

6.) Label all clothing items with your child's name. Sweatshirts, jackets,
sweaters, umbrellas and backpacks sometimes end up in our "Lost & Found".

5.) A nice ending to a busy day is to turn off the T.V. and share a good
book with your child. This is a great way to incorporate the "Lap-Reading
Program" and also share your love of reading with your child.

4.) If your child is sick or absent from school, make sure you contact the
school office in the morning. Upon returning to school, please send a note
explaining the reason for the absence.

3.) Share in your child's kindergarten day. We cover many activites and
skills and your child is excited to share his/her day with you.

2.) Review and practice on a daily basis the following skills: cutting,:name-
first/last, numbers, and letters), number recognition and following verbal
directions. Make this a fun and enjoyable time for both parent and child.

1.) Send your child off to school with a hug and a smiling face for a new
day of learning and sharing in God's wonderful world! Mrs. Meyer will be
waiting to greet you!

                           God Bless You All!
