When is Mrs. Frech available for tutorials?

I am always available for tutorials on Wednesdays after school in
Room 130; however, I prefer to be available to students on an as-
needed basis, since most students usually need help based on the
unit we are presently covering (particularly grammar, essay
writing, etc.). So if a tutorial is needed, please have the
student set up a mutually agreeable time with me. I will make time
to get students the help they need. (A note for Freshmen...
remember, my classroom is in a loud hallway, so I often close the
door after school, but this does not mean that I am not in the
classroom. KNOCK...and wait. I am most likely there!!!).

What if my child is struggling?

First of all, is your child attending tutorials? That is where he
or she should start (see above question about tutorials). Second
of all (and this is especially in the case of Freshmen) was the
student placed correctly? We do have a Basic 9 and a Reading
Development Class if test scores and academic performance show a
need. The major point here is that if your child is struggling
greatly in my class and has ongoing difficulty, we need to work
together to find a solution. Please contact me a.s.a.p. via phone
or e-mail.

Is the homework listed on Mrs. Frech's website updated and accurate?

I would have to say that the information listed on my website is
98% accurate. The reason for this is that planned assignments
often change based on a particular class or based on difficulty in
a particular area. Many assignments change based on how far we
went with our in-class reading or how well the students did with a
particular grammar unit etc. When I change a planned assignment, I
do attempt to update the website a.s.a.p., but time constraints do
not always allow that change to be immediate. So...while most of
the homework on this website is up-to-date, these dates cannot be
guaranteed.

I do want to make it very clear, however, that my HW assignments
and due dates should be clearly understood by the students
because they are always posted on the classroom homework board
daily with up-to-date modifications (and they remain posted for
the duration of that school week).

What is the best way to reach Mrs. Frech?

I encourage parent/teacher communication. You can always reach
me by calling Padua directly at (440)845-2444. You need to be
aware, however, that by the time the message reaches me and I
call back, a day may have passed. For this reason, if you would
like a quick response, please be aware that I check my school e-
mail frequently on a daily basis (both at school and at home).
So for a parent (or a student) who may need a quick response or
who has an ongoing issue, e-mail may be a good way for us to
communicate. My e-mail address is afrech@paduafranciscan.com.
Both means of communication work for me. I just appreciate the
partnership!!!

What do I do if I am having difficulties with turnitin.com?

Students received a handout on what to do if difficulties are
encountered with turnitin.com. If this handout has been lost, it
is available on this website under "Downloadable Copies".
Hopefully, students followed the advice to leave enough time
for problems (which I highly encourage). Last minute/night-
before attempts often induce student panic, which is why I try to
force rough drafts, etc. in order to guarantee most of the work
is completed prior to the evening before. The key is to plan!!!
Remember...if an assignment is due to turnitin.com, and personal
home internet issues arise, a student may place the document on a
flashdrive, CD, etc. and bring it into our Padua library for
submission. The Padua librarians have worked with turnitin.com
for quite some time now. Students may always come to me directly
for assistance as well. Please refer to the "Turnitin.com
Student Guide" mentioned above for further information...and please
keep in mind that an e-mail cannot take the place of a hard copy
essay or turnitin.com.
