FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions
of students and parents.
  1. Do you post assignments?
  2. I have a question for you...how may I contact you?
  3. If my child is ill, how does he/she make up the work missed?
  4. What is your policy on homework?

Do you post assignments?

Yes. Each Monday, the weekly assignments are posted on the
chalkboard located on the east side of the room. In addition,
an assignment sheet(small enough to fit in the binder) is
available to each student at the beginning of each week.

Assignments are also posted on Progress Book for students and
parents. The Progress Book link is included in the Links
section of the webpage.

I have a question for you...how may I contact you?

I believe that communication is an important part of your
child's success throughout their educational journey. I can be
reached in a number of ways:

1. Email: bryan.decker@pleasantstaff.org
2. Call the school and have them get a message to me and I will
return the call during a break or after school.
3. Stop in after school - usually available after 2:25
4. Send a note with your child and I will respond

If my child is ill, how does he/she make up the work missed?

If your child is ill, you may request that his/her assignments
be placed in the office for you to pick up from the school
during the day. Your child is responsible for making up all
missing assignments. My policy is that the student has one
extra day to turn in assignments for every day absent, provided
that the absence is excused. It is the student's responsibility
to request the material missed, although he/she should know what
they are missing by following the assignment board and/or weekly
assignment sheet.

If the absence is NOT EXCUSED, the work missed is due the day
they return to school with no additional days given. This is in
line with Pleasant Middle School policy.

What is your policy on homework?

I am not a fan of "busy work" for students. The assignments I
assign for students are meaningful and serve a purpose.
Therefore, homework must be completed in full on the day that it
is due to receive credit. If the ENTIRE assignment is not
complete, no credit is given. Many of my assignments are
completion grades (did the student make an honest attempt at
all questions asked of them) and are not lengthy. I view
partially completed work as more of a lack of responsibility and
organization than a lack of ability. If the work is not
completed in full, the students are not prepared for the day's
discussion and fall behind quickly...please encourage them to be
on time and prepared - it will pay big dividends in my class,
but more importantly in everything they do in their lives!
