This is my 18th year at Pleasant and my 23nd year of teaching. I have taught:
K-8 Title I Reading, Sixth Grade, Fourth Grade, Third Grade, K-5 Physical
Education, K-5 Music, Second Grade, and Sixth Grade Language Arts.
My pre-college education was completed by following my father's coaching
career including: Logan and Zanesville. He took the assistant principal's
position at Lima Shawnee when I was in high school so that is my Alma Mater.
My undergraduate elementary education degree was completed at Cedarville
College.
After graduation I married my husband Bob, and we moved to South Dakota to
farm. After seven years and two children, Chad and Tara, we moved back to
Ohio.
After teaching at Marion Christian School for four years, I stayed home to
have two more children, Abby and Joel.
In 1994, I returned to teaching at Pleasant. I finished my Master's Degree
in 1999, and I completed twenty extra Master hours. I received my
National Board certification in Early and Middle Childhood Language Arts in
November of 2010, followed by my Lead Professional Teacher's license in 2011.
I love teaching and creating new and improved lessons each year.
My family is my first love. My husband Bob and I celebrated our thirty-sixth
anniversary this year. He is a retired engineer from Honda and now works as
an independent contractor. Our son Chad lives in Seattle and is completing
his PH.D. through Pepperdine University. Our daughter Tara is a graduate of
Cedarville University with an English degree. She did post-graduate studies
in art as a graduate assistant at Bob Jones University. A stay-at-home mom.
she and her husband Steve live in South Carolina with my beautiful
grandchildren: Griffin, 6, Madelyn, 4, and Mason 2. She has a blog called
THE MUDPIE MAKERS. Our daughter Abby, graduated from Cedarville University
with a degree in English education. She is married to Andrew, and they live
in Columbus, Indiana, where he took an engineering position with Cummins.
Abby is teaching freshman and seventh grade English at a school twenty miles south
of Indianapolis this year. Through them I have a grandpuppy Stella. Our son
Joel graduated in May from Mount Union University. He recently accepted a
graduate assistant position at The Ohio State University where he will pursue
a Masters Degree in sports business. Emily and Joel were married in June and
live in Dublin.
In my spare time, I enjoy blogging; writing, singing, and playing music;
biking; and playing racquetball, badly. I made a CD of my music last year,
but for some reason it has not hit the top ten yet. : )
My mission is to guide students to reach their full potential and equip them
to become responsible, self-reliant, respectful, and kind contributors to
society.
