HOMEWORK/PLANNERS
Children need to bring their planners to class beginning in February. We will begin to
write our homework assignments in the planner each week so the students are accustomed
to doing so when they reach second grade (although there has been some talk about
eliminating planners in the future). Children will also begin taking books home to
complete their assignments versus receiving homework packets. They will still receive
lists of spelling words that will have to be written twice for homework.
HOMEWORK IS NOT DUE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY, regardless
of the date on which your child writes the assignment in his/her planner. If this method
ends up being less convenient for parents, we will revisit after a few weeks trial.

SCHOLASTIC BOOK ORDERS
Please turn in any Scholastic Book orders by Friday, Feb. 10th for processing. Thanks.
Book It forms for January will still be accepted in case you forgot to turn them in.
VALENTINE'S DAY
Children will exchange Valentines on Valentines Day. Please make sure your child has a Valentine for each student (24 students in the class). Simply signing your child's name to each card is the easiest way to handle distribution. The party is at 2:00 PM. All parents are welcome.
