I am delighted to be working with you and your child this year. My name is Mrs. Chastang and I will be your child's 1st Grade teacher. The most important thing you need to know about me is that I love teaching first grade! The best part about teaching is seeing a student's eyes light up when they make a connection. This is my 35th year in this glorious profession, 27 of those years were spent in Covington, Ky and the last 7 were at St. Ignatius. I have always been a primary teacher with the bulk of the time being in 1st grade. My thoughts on education: •I am process oriented; •I have total respect for individuals; •I believe in cooperation vs. competition. First Grade is an exciting year of tremendous growth! You will see a remarkable change in your child from the beginning of the year in September to the end of the year in June. During the year, your child will learn how to read, write stories, add, subtract, acquire many new skills, learn responsibility and so much more. Together we will partner to instill a love of learning that will last throughout your child's years of schooling!
