Does my son or daughter need to live in or attend Springboro Schools? NO! The SHA is open to all boys and girls ages 5-14 (in metro Dayton-Cincy area) regardless of their residence or school they may attend. Where are the home games and practices held and how often? All home games and practice will be held at South Metro Sports, Kettering Recreation Center & Nutter Center unless noted otherwise). Practice schedules and games will depend upon level of play. Practices will start in mid October with game play begining in early November. All players must have the following equipment to participate. Helmet w/cage & mouth guard shoulder pads elbow pads hockey gloves athletic cup (boys) pelvic protector (girls) hockey pants shin guards ice skates hockey stick If I have to provide all equipment, what are the fees used for? Fees include all practice ice and home game ice with referees. Generally costs per team for the entire season range from $12,000 - $18,000. The SHA also provides home/away jerseys & socks for all players, plus end of the year awards. USA Hockey Certification of all coaches. Registration forms are available on line. They may also be picked up at South Metro, Kettering Recreation Center or call 937-885-5967 to have one mailed. SHA will host open skate (free) and registration on September 6th @ South Metro Sport from 12-1:30PM. Who can I contact with questions? SHA is a member or the Greater Dayton Youth Hockey League (GDYHL) and a member of the Midwest Youth Hockey League (MYHL). SHA will play minimum of 12 league games in each league and two end of season tournaments. 8U Developmental will play a 16 game schedule and end of season tournament. What if my son or daughter has never skated? SHA offers 8U developmental for beginners, however, all levels are open to all boys and girls regardless of their skating ability.
