Introduction

Having good study skills is essential for your success, not only in school, 
but also in the world of work. Knowing how to effectively learn information 
and apply what you have learned are skills you need to get good grades and 
advance in a career. Taking time to assess your study skills abilities, 
learning techniques to make acquiring information more effective, and 
applying them to your every-day life will help ensure that you reach the 
goals you set for yourself. 

WHAT IS STUDYING? Studying is more than what you do to prepare for a test. 
It means learning for a purpose, whether you are reading a book, listening to
a customer, watching a movie, doing homework, or leaning how to complete a 
new work task. All of these activities involve study skills.

WHAT ARE STUDY SKILLS? Study skills are methods, ways of doing things, that 
can help make learning easier for you. They are skills that will help you 
get more work done and to learn more in a given period of time. They can 
help you improve the effectiveness of your learning. The study skills we 
will focus on include:
    * Learning Styles
    * Time Management
    * Listening and Notetaking Strategies
    * Reading Strategies
    * Memory Techniques
    * Test Taking Strategies
    * Research
