Use your study guide to help you study and prepare for the test.
Wedensday: September 7, Homework: Write a really good sentence for each of
the voacabulary words on the second page of your study guide. Study for the
test
on Friday.
Tuesday, September 6; Homework: Study the vocabulary study guide I gave you
in class today. In your reading notebook, write a really good sentence for
each vocabulary on the first page of the study guide. Due Wednesday.
Vocabulary test is on Friday. Study the words as you write the sentences.
Friday: Friday, September 2: Read AR for 30 minutes; Complete reading
log: We had time to do it today in class, but if you did not finish the
reading log please do so this week-end and turn it in on Tuesday.
Thursday, September 1, 2011: Read AR for 30 minutes and bring your reading
log and AR book to class on Friday. We will write our first reading in
class.
Wednsday, August 31: Read AR for 30 minutes and encourage your parents to
come to the "Meet the Teacher" night at St. Cecilia.
Tuesday, August 30th: Finish vocabulary worksheets. They are due on
Wednesday. Read 30 minutes for AR!
Monday, August 29th: I loved our discussion on "Courage" today.You had some
great ideas to answer the question What is Courage? I learned some new
interpretations of courage. Excellent!! Homeowrk: Two stapled together
vocabulary worksheets. Find the part of speech and synonym and antonym for
each word and write them in the boxes. You may use www.dictionary.com and
then click on Thesaurus and that will help with the synonyms and antonyms.
The two worksheets are due on Wednesday.
Thursday, August 26th: Please get your two AR papers signed. One is about
AR and the other is about reading logs. Please read this over with your
parents and get the papers signed ASAP!
The first reading log is due Tuesday, Sept. 6. I am asking all my 5th grade
students to read James and the Giant Peach for their first AR book. I will
supply the books to everyone. We will hopefully be going to the play "James
and the Giant Peach."
THe first class book we will be reading is Call IT Courage by ARmstrong
Sperry. It is a Newbery Medal winner and a great book.
Please start reading your AR book as soon as you receive it, hopefully
today. We ask everyone to read 20-30 minutes each night.
Homework, besides AR, will officially start next Monday.
