3 Yr. Old Newsletter

The children are busy learning and exploring in Preschool. We changed our Curriculum at the beginning of the year and are now using the Creative Curriculum, supplementing it with an additional Curriculum Handwriting Without Tears. Combining the two provides the children with a very educationally enriched preschool education.

Themes &   Educational Objectives:

In addition to the weekly learning objectives the children on a daily basis are continually building on the core objectives of letter and sound recognition, identify their own name in print, determine the meaning of new words, reading comprehension, rote counting, touch objects and say the number name when counting, comparing and sorting, graphing, use and understand language of time, recognize the flag and recall government facts, purpose of a map. These are just some of the core learning objectives that we are always building on. In addition to these objectives we do Units to provide experiences for the children to expand their knowledge and hands on experiences building on their ability to recall information and knowledge.

Valentines Day:

We will not have a big party on Valentine's Day, but we will be celebrating! The children need to bring in Valentine Cards with only thier name written on the back. Encourage your child to write their own name. It is a great lesson on the purpose of print. Please do not write the other children's names on the envelop. It becomes to big and difficult of a job to get the right name to the right child. We will be doing something special with valentine boxes. Please work together with your child to make your valentine box look like you own home. We will reuse these boxes for our unit on Community. Please bring them in the day of the party, Feb 15th.

Student of the Week:

It begins this week! One child will be the student of the week! I will provide you with a large paper to decorate with family pictures and any other decorations. On either the Tuesday or Thursday your child will bring in their poster, something special to share and a snack of their favorite food! (please bring in one bottle of juice)
