Grade 7

Order of Operations: A Two Part Extravaganza

7th Grade Review of Operations

Part I
Students will create an excel spreadsheet that reviews the rules/tricks/tips
for operations of these number types:
o	whole numbers
o	integers
o	fractions
o	decimals
o	exponents.

The columns will be labeled

Number Type, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
The rows will be the 5 number types listed above.

The cells for addition and subtraction for Exponents will be left blank.

Students will need to write the rules/trick/tip into each cell.

They should be able to create a spreadsheet that is easy to read with
gridlines and an easy to read font. Rules can be a phrase, a trick, or a
mnemonic device. Cells should be large enough so that no writing gets cut
off. This is a personal review sheet so it should be written in a way that
the student and teacher can both understand what is written. Some rules
require more writing than others (i.e. addition of integers) . Be sure to
ask Ms. Ray how to wrap text to make things fit! We’ll use 8.5 x 14 paper if
needed.

Stay tuned for part 2.
