Maniac Magee Vocabulary and Definitions - Test Thursday, Feb. 16th

legacy – anything people remember you for; anything handed down from 
        an ancestor
infamous – well known for bad behavior or conduct
suffice – to be enough for; adequate
flinched – winced; moved away quickly from anything painful or 
       dangerous
pandemonium – chaos; a large commotion; wide disorder, noise, or 
       confusion
boulevard – a wide street, usually lined with trees, grass, and/or  
         plants
blemish – a spot or rash; an error in what you have done in the past
armory – arsenal; storage place of weapons or a place where they are  
          made
prospects – possible choices, opportunities, outlooks, or outcomes
crowbar – a long metal tool used as a lever to pry things
regretted – felt sadly or troubled about things you did or didn’t do
eons – very long periods of time
testimony – statement or declaration of truth; proof
prodded – encouraged, urged, or pushed in a strong way 
repertoire – the group of things you know how to do; the stock of 
        items available
ornery – ugly or mean attitude; doing what you know you shouldn’t 
        disposition
preposterous – ridiculous; absurd; doesn’t make sense
bided – waited 
meandering – wandering aimlessly
stoic – a strong attitude or disposition, especially through 
        difficult experiences
satchel – a briefcase; a bag with a shoulder strap
endure – to handle and get through bad times or problems
replicas – copies
bickered – quarreled, argued
trekking – traveling 
reveal – to show, display, or make known
exuberance – extreme excitement toward or for something
ecstatic – very happy and excited about something; overpowering joy
ludicrous – foolish; silly; absurd
diverged – changed positions or paths; moved in different directions

appeased – made happy for now, satisfied
