Math Operation: Valentine Word Problems
1. Mrs. Gorman’s art classes are making heart necklaces for
mothers for Valentine’s Day. One class needs to make twenty-two.
The other class will make sixteen. How many will they make in all?
2. The first graders bring cupcakes to sell at a Valentine’s Day fundraiser.
1-D brings in forty-four. 1-W brings in fifty-three. How many cupcakes
do they have in all?
3. Ms. Rosemond is sending a lot of Valentine’s Day cards this year. Last
year, she sent eighteen. This year, she has joined two clubs, and has a
lot more friends. Her card list has grown by fifty-one. How many
cards will she send?
4. St. Mary's Student Council is selling Valentine’s Day chocolate to
raise money for charity. Last week they sold twenty-nine boxes.
This week they sold sixty-six. How many have they sold
altogether?
