April 23rd–April 27th
Thank You –I only received snacks and glue from 1 person. We are still in need of others to pitch in. It’s amazing how many students forget their snacks.
Math: We will continue to work on money this week. With the end of the year so near; we’re breaking into small groups more often to revisit problem areas. Playing games and practicing math facts at home will help!
Reading: We’re readingJunk Day on Juniper Streetin recognition of Earth Day. Studentsare learning how “junk” can be a treasure for someone else. They are to bring in an old toy to give away. There is a separate note coming home.
Writing: Students are still editing & rewriting their Spring Break papers. I can’t believe how much some of them wrote!
Spelling:Spelling words this week are contractions. The words are; can’t, didn’t, don’t, it’s, that’s, they’re, won’t, I’m, we’re, and couldn’t. The other ten words will stem from the two words the contraction are derived from. For instance they will have to spell didn’t & did not.
Science: We’ll spend time talking about recycling, reusing, and reducing in conjunction with Earth Day. Please send in a vegetable or soup can for a special project we are doing. It’s one way we can “reuse” and save the environment. Don’t ask questions…..it’s a surprise!
Special Guests: We have a weatherman coming in on Wednesday to talk to the second graders about his job & the tools he uses. Our other guest is coming in on Thursday from Mercy Children’s Hospital to talk to the students about healthy living and eating. She came in early this week and did a wonderful job! (It’s sponsored by Kohl’s)
Contact: Don’t hesitate to call me at school (419)824-8610 ext. 2120 or at home (419)841-6317.
