Mr. Wachowiak began his teaching career in the fall of 1998 at Northview after student teaching there in the fall of 1997. He also coached the debate team (2 years), advised Cat's Meow (1 year), and directed  the school's theatrical productions (3 years).

The summer of 2001 found Mr. Wachowiak leaving Northview and moving south with his wife to Charlotte, NC where they both taught at Wilson Middle School. While teaching 8th grade Language Arts at Wilson, Mr. Wachowiak also found time to advise the school's drama club.

The summer of 2002 returned Mr. Wachowiak to northwest Ohio where he began teaching at Rossford High School in Rossford, OH. There, Mr. Wachowiak also directed Rossford Drama (2 years).

Mr. Wachowiak returned to Northview in the fall of 2004, and currently teaches American Literature, Drama I, and Public Speaking. He also resumed directing Northview Theatre productions, and advising Thespian Troupe #4463. During his tenure at Northview, Mr. Wachowiak has served on a number of committees and focus groups, currently including Fine Arts Technology and NV Pride and Climate.

Education:

Mr. Wachowiak is a 1992 graduate of Whitmer High School in Toledo, OH. He began college as a mechanical engineering major at The University of Toledo, but after changing his major and transferring schools, Mr. Wachowiak graduated from Bowling Green State University in 1997 with a Bachelor of Science in Communication Education. He has completed additional coursework from Ashland University, Andrews University and UNLV. Mr. Wachowiak completed his Masters degree in Classroom Technology from BGSU in May 2008.

Theatre Experience:

Mr. Wachowiak has been involved in drama for over 30 years beginning with his first role in an elementary school Christmas play. While in high school, he performed in the chorus ( The Wizard of Oz ) and played the roles of Diesel ( West Side Story ), The Mason ( Working ) and Lysander ( A Midsummer Night's Dream ). Since high school, Mr. Wachowiak has held singing, acting and technical roles with many organizations, last performing as The Cat in the Hat in OPI's production of Seussical the Musical at the Maumee Indoor Theatre during the summer of 2005.

Mr. Wachowiak's first teaching job also brought his directorial debut, Marvin's Room, in the fall of 1998 at Northview. During his three initial years at Northview, Mr. Wachowiak also directed Hello, Dolly! (1999), The Crucible (1999), The Pajama Game (2000), Rumors (2000), and Cinderella (2001). The Crucible and Rumors were both invited to perform at the Ohio Educational Theatre Association's annual Thespian State Conference.

While at Rossford High School, Mr. Wachowiak directed The Crucible (2002), Fame (2003), The Foreigner (2003) and Cinderella (2004). The Foreigner, too, was invited to perform as a full-length featured performance at the annual Ohio EdTA Thespian Conference.

Mr. Wachowiak's most recent Northview productions include serving as the Technical Director for Joseph and the Amzing Technicolor Dreamcoat (2004) and directing Moon Over Buffalo (2004), Honk! (2005), The Dining Room (2005), The King and I (2006), The Diviners (2006), FAME:The Musical (2007), Thoroughly Modern Millie (2007), The Odd Couple (2008), Disney's Beauty and the Beast (2008), The Diary of Anne Frank (2009), Seussical (2009), A Midsummer Night's Dream (2010), The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon (2010) and Fiddler on the Roof (2011). The cast and crews of Moon Over Buffalo, The Diviners and The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon performed as full-length featured performances at the Ohio Thespian State Conference in 2005, 2007 and 2011 respectively.

Personal:

Mr. Wachowiak has been married to his wife Stacie since 2000. 'Mrs. Wo' is a counselor at Northview HS. They have two daughters, Taryn who was born in September of 2003 and Taylee born in March of 2005. He also has a spoiled Green-Winged Macaw named Kobi (who made his Northview stage debut in 2009's Seussical) and a Chocolate Lab named Mocha.

When away from school, Mr. Wachowiak enjoys music, watching and participating in theatrical productions, Michigan football (Go Blue!) and spending time riding jet skis with his family at Lake Gage in Angola, IN.
