Parents' Club Minutes

Hello Parents of Mr. Bevck's fifth grade class. The following is a recap of our monthly Parent Club meeting. If you have any comments or questions about the activities and events going on at Central please feel free to contact me. The goal of the classroom liaison position is to help every parent feel more informed about what is happening at our children’s school. Please remember all families are a part of parent club and I encourage you to attend a future meeting if possible.

President’s announcements:

Cathy MacKinnon welcomed and thanked everyone for attending.

 

Treasurer’s report:

Laura Bader shared an updated budget report. If you would like a copy or have questions, please contact her atlbader@sev.org.

 

Market Day–March pick up is 3/15. If you haven’t tried Market Day before, please consider placing an order.

Retail Promotions –Top collectors have been announced and a special thank you to all of the families who helped us collect over 10,000 box tops and 3,500 labels. Please save any future box tops & Campbell’s soup labels for next year. We are in need of a parents who would be willing to coordinate the collection for next year. If available to help, please contact Cathy MacKinnon.

 

Spring Fundraiser –All families should have received a catalog of items with your child’s artwork. Orders due March 26thand will be delivered in late April. 

 

5thGrade Graduation/Fundraising– Thank you to all who have helped support the café nights. Please join us for our next event on April 24that Amie’s Pizza. Also more information will be sent home about a Mother’s Day Charm event with Jeffery Mann Jewelers, with a portion of proceeds going to fund graduation activities.

 

Yearbook- Orders have been placed and will be distributed later in the year.

 

Carnival –Carnival will be held on March 24thfrom 1-4. WE STILL NEED VOLUNTEERS! Please contact Cathy MacKinnon if you can help. A flyer went home requesting cake donations for the cake walk, we need a lot of cakes for this part of the Carnival. A single cake mix will make two 8x8 cakes.

 

Student Council– Students were excited and raised over $2,500 to Erase Diabete-100% of money goes to JDRF. The 2ndGrade collected the most money and will receive an ice cream party. Student Council will also have a bake sale during the Carnival with proceeds going to the Humane Society. Also, please continue to send in the pop top tabs, the drive will continue through the end of the year. The final Student Council event for the school year will be a new sock & underwear drive for Hannah’s Socks-more specific info to follow at a later date. 

 

Parent School Council –Teacher contracts are up at the end of July this year. Also there will be a meeting on March 30that noon at 4747 Holland Sylvania to discuss the Voucher Program that could adversely affect public school funding. Please attend if you can to learn more. Please contact Mindy Potter if you have additional questions.

 

Mrs. Gerber report:

·        An update on the Alice training that is ongoing was given. Teachers are being trained this year and students will be trained next year.

·        Spring Sing will be March 29that 7pm.

·        End of the 3rdquarter is March 30th, progress reports will be going home on April 5th.

·        A reminder Spring Break will end on April 16th.

·        OAA testing coming up in April. This is for 3rd-5thgraders.

·        New school building is making good progress. Builders are working seven days a week to make up for lost time during rainy fall months.
